Start off i had my 1967 galaxie 500 390 v8 rebuilt.Im putting it back together now.I bought a 5.25 3 dial gauge set for volts, oil preasure and water temp.
My question is wheres the best place on this 390 to hook up the plastic line for oil preasure?
Im real new to fords and restoreing in general. thanks for any help.
Use the same hole that's provided for the electric sender. I simply removed the electric, guage does not work anyway. Someone here has done a little extra plumbing, runs both the electric and manual guage. They basically have both installed in a tee fitting.
I did the Tee fitting on mine. It worked out well for me. I did have to install the Tee tight to the hole and install the original sensor on top to get clearance on the PS pump. No big deal though.
My 73 has the factory gauge. I'm pretty sure the sensor is basically the same for the idiot light though. It is on top of the oil filter adaptor that bolts to the side of the block, drivers side front of the FE. I don't have a picture of what I did. I can't see it good enough for a photo without removing the PS pump. All you do is pull the factory sensor out. Then screw in the same size pipe nipple and a pipe Tee on top of the nipple. Then the factory sensor will screw in the top of the Tee. The mechanical gauge pickup will screw in the side of the Tee. Voila, you're done. the pipe nipple and Tee will not come with the gauge set. When you take the factory sensor out, head down the the hardware store and get the nipple and Tee that matches the thread of the factory sensor....if I remember it's 1/8" but don't take my word on that.
Yes i did exactly what you stated and it looks like it will work fine .Sensor is on top of the oil filter housing.Im going to get a tee and use the factory dummy light sensor also thx much for all you guys help.
