looking for a better cup holder!!

Hi all:

I have a 99 SD 4X4 SC LB w/V-10. I love it, in fact I just returned home from a 1000 mile round trip to the FL Keys pulling a 7k boat. She ran great at 70 mph and I got 9 mpg. Very happy with that... To my question, I'm looking for a better cup holder. My console is the type with the coin holder. Pretty useless, so I'm looking for a cup holder that attaches to the front of the console. I think it attached under the lid of the console. I know I'v have seen them, but I can't find it in any on the web sites. Any one know where I can find this ???? It has to be better than the holder in the ash tray.

Thanks in advance, Bob

A lot of guys upgrade to the newer style in-dash cup holders... Apparently they're a different, more sturdy design. I can't recall which year they started using them though... I'd guess '03. You can prolly find them on ebay

I replace the in dash cup holder in my 99 with a latter model one. It has a floor plate that drops and spring loaded wings. I've yet to throw a cup since replacing it. It also holds the Coke bottles quite well. If memory serves, it was about $60 plus tax.

It's easy enough to replace. Pull out the ashtray. Take out the 4 screws that hold the ashtray frame to the dash. There are 2 screws inside this opening that secure the cup holder from the bottom. There are also 2 screws on the cup holder from the front. If I remember correctly, the cup holder has to be pulled out to acess the 2 screws from below.

Thanks, I'll try that if I do not find what I'm looking for. A few months ago I found an add on to the console. It attaches to the console under the lid and sits directly in front of the console on the middle seat. I just can not find it. I'm looking for the web site.........If anyone has this add on, I would love to have the web site.......

I'm confused about your console. It should be the same as I have. In front of the lid, there is piece that is one large tub. This piece snaps off the console. If this is what you want to replace, there is a piece that holds to cups. You should be able to get this from any dealer. If it is not listed for the Super Duty's, try Excursion parts. My buddy's 2000 has the twin cup holder.

I didn't like the cup holders on my 1992 F350, so I bought A 2004 F250. Problem gone.

Jim:

The cup holder I'm looking for is an aftermaket add on. My console has the coin slots on the right side of the console, (no cupholders). Months ago while surfing the web I found an after market item, where part of it slides under the lid of my console to lock in place. When in place there is now an extention in the front of the console that sits on the seat. It had two cup holders and maybe even another storage place. I can't find that web site where I found this aftermarket add on.

I found what I was looking for and it fits perfectly. I ordered the cupholder to go in my 1999 SD. It snaps right into the exsisting console. Holds on tight, holds extra items as well as drink cups and looks as thou it came with the truck......

If anyone one else is interested it's at www.allaboutdiesels.com look under accessories. Nice add on for someone who has those useless coin holders...
