cam mod. question
I need some advise of what cam to use. My truck is totally stock. It's a 77 f-250 with a 70's 460 tranplant and a AT. Would a comp xtreme (x427oh-11) be a good choice? or would that be to much? I want more torque, and HP to pull a trailer. Also I run a edelbrock 600cfm (1406) Thing is junk can't seem to get it set right. Any suggestions on a carb. would be appriciated also.

Why is the carb junk?
Most everyone agrees the AFB carbs are extremely easy to tune.
Does yours need a rebuild? Are you sure it isn't ignition?
If the carb isn't responding to adjustments maybe you have a vacuum leak.
Just something to think about.

The best place for the cam question is the 460 forum.
The Carb forum is where you go for carb help.

I would suggets calling Comp Cams and ask them. they have an 800 number just for this kind of question. I called them, told them what I have and what I want to do with it, ant they told me which cam would work best. Also answered every question I had about installing it. Great help!
