Starter doesn't disengage

Awhile-back I was having trouble with a dead ignition switch on my 1990 F350 5.9L EFI. Sometimes I would turn it and nothing happened. The problem was intermittant. I changed the solenoid on the fender-well and it was OK.

The last time I tried to start it the starter wouldn't disengage. I shut the motor off and the thing kept cranking. I turned it on and it started but remained engaged. I finally disconnected the battery cable.

Any help?

sounds like the solonoid is staying engaged

I had the same problem with my 86 ford f-250 w/ 460, after some work I ended up replacing the starter because it was drawing too much juice and it would weld the points on the solonoid.
