I'm really a regular cab guy at heart - always have been and always will be. Something really appeals to me about them every time I see one. It's probably the no nonsense stance they project, I mean every one of them comes with the long bed option, and very few have any un needed frills. When you see one, you know odds are very slim that it was purchased with the intent of substituting as the "family car".
With this said, the regular cab is getting more and more impractical for many people these days. Supposedly there is seating for 3 - but when you add drinks, laptop computer, business files, paper work, cell phones, valueable tools which cannot be left in the tool box during trips in bad weather, etc, the cabin becomes a cluster cluck pretty rapidly.
Enter the Super Cab - think of it as a regular cab with a bit of extra space behind the front seats. The back area is not optimal for living cargo, but will serve the purpose for short trips to the job sites and back home(if ever you needed to transport more than 3 people), provides plenty of extra room for all the business paraphrenalia I previously mentioned, comes in quite handy for storing valuable tools during bad weather, etc. Add to this that IMO the supercab configuration makes the truck look more balanced. It's not nearly as clean looking as a regular cab, but much cleaner looking than a crew cab IMO (crew cabs make even the long bed boxes look small).
The few thousand you save on the crew can go toward equipping the truck with 4x4 if you think you really need it. In short, if your vehicle would be serving consistently as a main means of family transportation (which I doubt very much, since your contemplating a regular cab to begin with), then the crew is the only way to go.
If it will be serving primarily as your own personal transportation, and you think you would like the extra rear cabin space for storing things, along with the odd long road trip with someone occupying the rear seat, or even many frequent but short trips (less than 10 miles) with a few people in back, I think the Super cab would be perfect
when you consider the shorter turning radius, cheaper price tag, and the better look (my opinion).
If it had to come down to only REGULAR CAB or CREW...hmmmm.....I guess your own needs will dictate wheather the crew is actually needed, since it seems you prefer the better looks of the regular cab yourself. Give the Super cab a serous look though, it is not for everyone, but you may find it's just right for you.
On edit; Actually now that I think about it, the Super cab is my favorite looking SD anymore - as long as it's a super cab 2wd dual rear wheel.
I like the look of these trucks even more than I like the regular cab 4x4 SRW.
Also the dually is probably the only truck which actually looks better as a SC or CC than as a regular cab (of course the Super cab is the better of the two IMO)

The single cab is kind of like a coupe. Very personal. It's your truck and you don't have to share the priviledge of a ride in YOUR truck with many people.
Our '92 super cab took us through about 5 PCS's. It sure was nice to be able to put stuff in the cab that I didn't want walking away (or even getting groceries on a rainy day).
But with a 2nd kid on the way, couldn't put two child seats in the '92 (jump seats faced the center), so we upgraded to the Crew.
Good luck and thanks again.

We just purchased an 06 F250 Lariat PSD Crew Cap Short bed and love it. Kind of like a Lincon Town Car with a bed. Got a Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit toneau that retracts, check them out at pace-edwards.com, super.
Just remember to keep the metal side up and the rubber side down and for God's sake, do not hit the ouch rock!!
come home safe man and good luck with what ever you buy
