regular or crew

I am a soilder currently and proudly serving my country in IRAQ.. I sold my 2001 sport 4x4 F-150 right before I left and I want to buy a new F-250 when I come home at the end of November.. My question is what is more comfortable for long drives a regular cab, or a crew cab? I dont want a supercab. I like the way the regular cab looks but dont know if I will be comfortable in if for a cross counrty trip I plan on making in the sping time. I am 6'1 so I want to make sure i'll have plenty of room and that must play into my decision...
if any one can help me answer that question please do so.
thank you

Thanks for serving our country man. Hats off to you guys you are the best. Now back to your question. I have reg cab PSD an just love it. It rides great. My guess is the crewcab would ride a bit better beings its a longer truck. Are you planning to haul any people any time. Buddies, family members. Crews sure come in handy at times like these. Or if you are going to haul luggage or anythingit would be nice too. The only downside is they will cost several thousnad more then a reg cab. My vote would be for the crew. People say once you have one you never have anything else. Good Luck an stay safe over there.

I would go with the cc. A little more $, but well worth it. The cc's now days have so much more room in them. I have had both, and I will probably never go back to a reg. cab.

I guess I'm a bit different - I like the Super Cab. See, here's how I look at it.
I'm really a regular cab guy at heart - always have been and always will be. Something really appeals to me about them every time I see one. It's probably the no nonsense stance they project, I mean every one of them comes with the long bed option, and very few have any un needed frills. When you see one, you know odds are very slim that it was purchased with the intent of substituting as the "family car".

With this said, the regular cab is getting more and more impractical for many people these days. Supposedly there is seating for 3 - but when you add drinks, laptop computer, business files, paper work, cell phones, valueable tools which cannot be left in the tool box during trips in bad weather, etc, the cabin becomes a cluster cluck pretty rapidly.

Enter the Super Cab - think of it as a regular cab with a bit of extra space behind the front seats. The back area is not optimal for living cargo, but will serve the purpose for short trips to the job sites and back home(if ever you needed to transport more than 3 people), provides plenty of extra room for all the business paraphrenalia I previously mentioned, comes in quite handy for storing valuable tools during bad weather, etc. Add to this that IMO the supercab configuration makes the truck look more balanced. It's not nearly as clean looking as a regular cab, but much cleaner looking than a crew cab IMO (crew cabs make even the long bed boxes look small).

The few thousand you save on the crew can go toward equipping the truck with 4x4 if you think you really need it. In short, if your vehicle would be serving consistently as a main means of family transportation (which I doubt very much, since your contemplating a regular cab to begin with), then the crew is the only way to go.

If it will be serving primarily as your own personal transportation, and you think you would like the extra rear cabin space for storing things, along with the odd long road trip with someone occupying the rear seat, or even many frequent but short trips (less than 10 miles) with a few people in back, I think the Super cab would be perfect
when you consider the shorter turning radius, cheaper price tag, and the better look (my opinion).

If it had to come down to only REGULAR CAB or CREW...hmmmm.....I guess your own needs will dictate wheather the crew is actually needed, since it seems you prefer the better looks of the regular cab yourself. Give the Super cab a serous look though, it is not for everyone, but you may find it's just right for you.

On edit; Actually now that I think about it, the Super cab is my favorite looking SD anymore - as long as it's a super cab 2wd dual rear wheel.
I like the look of these trucks even more than I like the regular cab 4x4 SRW.
Also the dually is probably the only truck which actually looks better as a SC or CC than as a regular cab (of course the Super cab is the better of the two IMO) .

come on home! I have a nephew that just got out a few months ago & we were glad to have him back. Thank you for your service over there! Be sure & ask for a military discount wherever you go, you earned & deserve it. I would offer my services at a substantial discount to veterans these days(HVAC).

Thanks for doing a tough job over there.
The single cab is kind of like a coupe. Very personal. It's your truck and you don't have to share the priviledge of a ride in YOUR truck with many people.
Our '92 super cab took us through about 5 PCS's. It sure was nice to be able to put stuff in the cab that I didn't want walking away (or even getting groceries on a rainy day).
But with a 2nd kid on the way, couldn't put two child seats in the '92 (jump seats faced the center), so we upgraded to the Crew.
Good luck and thanks again.

Keeno the crew cab will help with those partial DITY moves you'll be making in the future. Also if you have any little ones or plan to have any you'll be glad you got the CC

Thank you for protecting our freedom. I would get the CC but it does add a bunch to the price tag. I could not afford the CC and I just don't like the SC long bed look (JMO) I got a reg cab and I love it it rides nice and in SRW format it has a higher payload but I must admit I long for the inside storage of the SC or CC. If you have the cash by all means get the CC you will love it after driving those Hummers the CC will feel skinny on our roads.

I have both a 01 7.3 CC LB lariat (209,000 miles) and a 05 6.0. Reg Cab XL (17,000) I love both trucks. I bought the 05 hoping for better fuel mileage, didn't get it! My HPOP Craped out at 203.500 miles and I had a BTS tranny on the way so I was needing a new ride also. I realy like to drive my 01, I plan to only drive it once a week though. That may change though because it gets about 1.5 better MPG.

Keeno, welcome and hurry back home. I am a member of the VietNam class of '63. Our neighbors son is a jar head and returned last night from Iraq. Said he much prefered sleepin with his wife than his weapon! Also enjoyed sleeping with his boots OFF!

We just purchased an 06 F250 Lariat PSD Crew Cap Short bed and love it. Kind of like a Lincon Town Car with a bed. Got a Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit toneau that retracts, check them out at pace-edwards.com, super.

Just remember to keep the metal side up and the rubber side down and for God's sake, do not hit the ouch rock!!
