Trans change

Has enyone changed a 1991 or so F-150 from 5 speed masda to an automatic trans. My (Soldier,Ft Hood) son just blew the clutch plus I tow a lot. Don't want to get rid of the truck. Please advise... Thanks guy's. John -Fort Wayne Indiana.

Just did it last weekend... We bought a donor 1988 with AOD. Pulled the steering column and put that in. All the linkages and cables will be on you donor truck. You will need to swap the flexplate (flywheel). We had to use the transfer case off the 5 speed tranny but it bolts right in. Had the driveshaft lengthened 2.250". $115.00. Front drive shaft was fine. With the AOD you don't need to swap the computer. It was really fairly straight forward aside from the time it took. Also we had to use the starter out of the donor truck as the 5 speed starter looked different on the gear depth. My advice... Find a donor truck...
