Heres my dilemma. Looking to install a billet grille and matching bumper insert on my Silver 04 FX4. I'm having trouble deciding between the polished or the brushed version. As you know, theres not a lot of chrome on the FX4, so would the polished look out of place? On the other hand, the stock rims are brushed, and I have no intentions on replacing them (at least for a while, of course) so maybe brushed is the way to go. The black bar-style factory set up seems to stand out too much for me lately. I think the billet will clean it up a little, especially on the silver truck.
I dont really want to deal with the hassle of ordering them, waiting, only to find out I'm not really satisfied, and have to return them, and do it all over again.
I do realize that it comes down to a matter of personal preferance, but i would appreciate any input.
The brushed look would look nice considering the lack of chrome on the truck.
You may even want to consider swapping out the bar style grill for an XLT honeycomb grill so that the overlay billet grill will be continous rather than broken up by the factory bars.
I was actually going with the full replacement. Sounds like the bar grille unbolts from the surround and the new one bolts right up (I hope).
I was just on my way home, going by the local Ford dealer, and there was a rig with the Regency kit on it, which has the exact grille on it. It doesnt look like the polished is too bad after all. There is a black background on each individual bar, with only the front polished (if anyone else is interested).
Might have to go grab my credit card and do some ordering tonight.
