I was looking for hunting boots and found a pair on sale. 10" leather, Goretex, 1000 gram insulation, oil resistant soles. Anyone have experience with them?
Georgia boot makes a good long lasting boot. I have owned 2 pair of them and worn them on wildland fires and working on the ambulance. They can get pretty ugly after about a year but each pair lasted about 2yrs of constant use. The ones I had were noninsulated, not sure how many styles they make.
I've got a pair of Georgia boots. They are nice, right now they are my clean dressy boots. My 4year old CAT boots have been handling everything i throw at them, no signs of wear yet.
Hopefully when i start wearing the Georgias more they'll stand up just as well, they're built pretty heavy. Plus i like them cause i could get a size 15.
I wore them for a couple of years and liked them. Then one day I found as I got out of bed and set my feet down on the floor, the soles of my feet burned like fire. I ignored it, but the firey feet feeling just kept on getting worse. It got so bad I could barely walk at work . I gave the Georgia boots to my wife's son, and he wore them one day and said they killed his feet ( we had not mentioned my feet hurting to him yet tho) . ..
I ended up having to go to a podiatrist and was diagnosed with plantar fasciatus (sp?) The doc said it was a common disorder with people that had high arches and that wore poorly designed foot wear with no arch support. Probaly had nothing to do with Georgia boots, but they brought to my attention the grave importance of wearing good footwear, the hard way. jmo

Thanks for the replies. I bought them and will try them out this fall. I don't do well with cold feet when I am hunting and I cna't wear pac boots anymore. Hopefully with the insulation and goretex my feet will stay warm and dry. They felt pretty good in the store. Unfortunatly I can't test them out on a hunt and then decide.
i've had a pair of georgia giant work boots for 2 years and they are still great, wear them all the time...the work boots certainly aren't good hunting boots or backpacking boots, as they are steel toe (found taht out the hard way), but georgia seems to make good boots...i'm getting a pair of hunting boots from them for this season.

What kind of CAT boots do you own?
I'm only wondering because I was interested in buying a pair last year because I needed a new pair of boots. My Cabela's Woodsman that I bought are excellent, except they took way too long to break in. I use my boots hard and I may need a new pair this coming spring. I'm just trying to get ideas now, so I can buy what I want and not look around while I'm wearing tennis shoes cutting grass.
I forgot the model name, but they are all black leather and have the Catipillar bulldozer on the side, and say cat steel toe on the tounge.
Ok they started life out as 6" injector steel toe's. My boot has a longer foot than this one, the tounge doesn't curve up so soon cause of the longer foot, but you get the idea.
The leather between the toe and the tounge is soft so it looks kinda colapsed when my foot isn't in it, but the leather had molded to my feet, perfect fit.
i used to have a pair of cat boots just like your's when i was younger but now i have a pair of chippewa loggers it seems like i go through 2 pairs of boot strings each month.
