Ash Tray Repair.

Here is an old tip (that may have been mentioned before and forgotten) for you guys that have a problem with a sloppy ash tray fit in your trucks if the ball bearings are missing or worn. I know this works on 69-72 models. Remove the ashtray and the ball bearing carrier. Then clean out the grooves on each side of the ash tray. Sand them really clean. Then cut a piece of 5/16 copper tubing to fit in the groove. Sand the copper tubing squeaky clean and then take some flux and solder and solder the tubing into the grooves. Apply some white lithium grease to the slides and you have a tight ashtray.

Hmmm, neat idea. The only problem is I think the copper would wear thin pretty quick on mine..........only cause of the WEIGHT of change that I carry in the ash tray........LOL!!!!!!

I got a better suggestion, WELD it shut and quit smoking. The golden leaf will kill you.

Or even beter. Pull it out. Drill a few holes in it. And mount a new interior light! Also fill the ash trey with wiring and spare bolts.

Ashtray Ball Bearings.

The usual reason for sloppy ashtray fitment on 1968/72 F100/750's: The ball bearings are either worn or have fallen out.

PREAUS MOTOR CO. in Farmerville LA has 25 = 318-368-3805.

LYLE'S FORD in Eagle Grove IA has 26 = 800-397-6319.

DELONG FORD in Winnemucca NV has 35 = 775-623-5049.

DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has 71 = 623-842-8643.

I found one complete on ebay. had to whire wheel and emery the thing and put fresh grease in bearings. I don't smoke but was sick of looking at that hole in the front.

Ash tray bearings

2 bearings on each side that ride in symmetrical grooves, a wrap around cage holds the bearings in place
