Hello, I have a question about my idle speed:
I have a 390 w/ a C6 that, when I set the automatic choke when it is relatively cold outside, the engine is loud and pulls hard. Meaning, when I start her up in the morning, she will jump when I drop it into drive and then coast/idle going about 8-12 mph. Is this way too high for being dead cold and starting in 40-60 degree weather?
If you feel it's too high, there is a screw to adjust it. Look on the passenger side of the carb, and down in the midst of all that linkage, you should see a screw, which hits a piece of metal with steps on it. This is the fast idle cam, and this screw is what hits the cam when the choke is activated to make the fast idle. Adjust this screw and see how it does. You will have to experiment for several mornings usually to get it just the way you want it.
