do we really want 18 amps going through one cable though? that 300 watt supply is getting dispersed between several wires. also remember that your house wiring is only rated for 20 amps i believe (correct me if im wrong but i think thats right)

A 300W power supply is the total power for all the voltage sources (3.3V,5V, +/-12V), so you are correct, you won't have the total power from the 12V source. One thing to keep in mind, with 300W output on the power supply,
the AC line current will only be between 2.5A and 3.0A, depending on the
efficiency of the power supply.
Well it's up and running, sounds pretty good and gets loud. I am going to go ahead and buy that thing from radio shack just because of the higher amperage and that way I'll feel a little more safe knowing it's being used for it's intended purpose. Maybe I could add a powered amp to it later and have a full system lol. I think what I'm going to end up doing is installing car speakers in the walls, probably Sonys (I know they suck, but they're red and my built in cabinets are red and it matches). I'd like something better quality but I'm trying to make it look good and sound decent, I'll end up probably putting my eclipses in there out of my truck once I upgrade the truck some more.
Which final product are you wanting to see? With the speakers in the wall and all of that? I think I'm going to mount the HU up in a cabinet or something, not really sure about that. I could get you pics of it all sitting on top of eachother right now lol.
A pic or two with the HU mounted would be nice. Having a nice model next to it would be really great. Come on man, Mom or Grandma might be handy - but, lets put a little effort into it. Extra points if they're dancing...
