looking for #2
1. is it an easy transfer or just new motor mounts?
2. will the f-150 frame hold up okay?
3. can an engine be switched from an automatic tranny to a manual
easily? or does it wear on the engine more/less?
4. what is normal to pay for a late 70's body in decent to good
condition with no motor or tranny? I live in northern IN if that
info would help anyone get me more accurate prices.
5. will i get better mpg with the f-150 rearend than with my f-250
rear?
Thanks in advance for any advice/knowledge any one can pass this way!

The F-150 frame is the same as an F-250. Only yhe suspension is beefed up. The F-250 rearend is probably geared lower and will decrease mpg. But is you mix the 2, you will have 8 lugs on one end and 5 on the other. You will need 460 frame mounts if it doens't have a 429/460 in it now. It's not real difficult to change from an auto to manual tranny, if you have all of the pedals and linkage required. An auto is a little easier on the crank and bearings, but if it is driven 1/2 way normal (not alot of revving it up and dumping the clutch) it really won't make a noticable difference.
You may also check the 385 Series forum and the tranny forum for more detailed answers.
