hey guys i just put a motor in my 88 f250. the motor was a 351w from a van(mid 80's). of course the oil pan didn't work so i bought a different pan from a buddy (85? crown vic. cop car)it cleared the cross member.in 87 they put the dipstick tubes in the block on a 351w.
this motor had it in the pan. but no dipstick or tube.
theres the story now here's the question.
what size threads are in the oil pan for the tube?
the tube from the van pan wouldn't fit.
the local ford dealer wants $50 for one and if its a pipe thread i can make one, also anyone with the correct dimensions for tube and dipstick? so i can get there quicker?
junkyard sounds like a good place to shop.
just make sure the dipstick and tube are for your oilpan.
nothing worse than too little oil and never knowing it until it blows up. This actually happened to a tractor on our farm, the dipstick was too long, so it showed full but in reality it wasn't, so one day the engine just siezed, not cool.
