I have a 94 F150 5.0, and will be bringing a system from another vehicle into this one. Its in my explorer now, but i have a Planet Audio 2250D (~2300 watts RMS @ 13.8 volts) granted i can keep the power pumping. I have a 3F cap as well to help with the hard hits. In my explorer i have a 160amp alternator, and now i need one for this truck. Ive checked PC-Performance.com (found in another post found via the "search" button). Pa-performance seems to deal with mustang 5.0, will that work for me?
The once i found is http://www.pa-performance.com/display.asp?sku=7 but it asks for some differant options, like Upgrade type, and im not sure what to put in that line. It makes 90amps at idle, does anyone know where i can get one that puts out more power at idle, as i like to show off my system when im parked. Thanks for any info or help.
yeah, look at summit racing, they have high output alternators, the one in your truck may be suffecent, but not sure what you think you need to get outa it.
Those alternators in the link will not work with your truck. You need a 3g style. Those ones look like 3g style alternators made to replace 2g style. They have different mounts.
You can also keep an eye out on ebay. Type "3g ford" and you should get tons of alternators and their parts back in the search. Just look for a 130 or 200 amp 3g alternator.
