Replacing a 99 Expy Fuel Pump
So I called a towing company, as he rattled the vehicle on the truck bed, I was able to start it. Not wanting to risk it going out again, I forked $200 and had it towed home. Due to the tight budget I'm on, I'm considering with the help of a friend who is somewhat of a mechanic to help me change the fuel pump. Is this hard and difficult to do? I've worked on other repairs on the vehicle.
Sorry for the novel and thank you for any comments in advance.

Thanks for the reply, that was just my first assumption, I am going to change the fuel filter first, I realized after my post that if it was the fuel pump then my expy would not have started this morning. I bought a fuel filter this morning and will change it, the fella at Advance Auto also mention an ignition module.
Do you know if a fuel pump just goes out completely, or does it just act sluggish over a period of time then goes out?
Thanks,
Blacks
BTW, when you tried to restart your Expy, did you happen to try feathering the accelerator a bit in addition to just turning the key? Sometimes when the IAC gets a little wacky on these vehicles, they will crank and crank, but fire up when you give it a little gas...
Just a thought.
I have never changed the fuel filter in the 4 years that I have had the vehicle, I will attempt to change it for the first time and I've been reading another thread, I will start changing it out every other oil change. I went home for lunch and my Expy started right up with no problem at all. I won't drive it until I get the new filter on.
If it does go out, I'll just club the underside of the tank as suggested
