E4OD Upgrades or conversions
I have a '92 F-150 2wd with 89 mustang GT engine. Transmission just went out, second transmission in the truck over 230,000 miles. I drive the truck 25-30,000 miles a year over the road. I am considering a beefier E4OD or the possiblity of converting to a manual or other type of automatic trans. Performance upgrades are anticipated in the near future, possible 350-400HP. Any ideas? Suggestions would be appreciated.

make sure you are getting the upgrades that were introduced over the years for the E40D. Talk to a good tranny rebuilder and have him use the replacement parts for a f250 e40d as they are beefier. Add an additional cooler and a heavy duty torque converter. Seems unusual that you would have 2 go out in so little mileage...are you driving/towing heavy loads?
