Im running the RPM cam like Randy and its alrite once you get the gears to go with it. I had 3.00:1's to start with and it was pathetic, went to 3.50's and I had serious traction issues . Ofcourse if I had a 4-speed it would be better.
Im curious to know what kinda rear wheel power your actually making with that setup. I know the cam is basically a stock replacement but with all the rest of that stuff it makes me wonder how much that combo is putting out....you never know it may be an alternative that we could reccomend for someone who isnt as interested in running a hot style cam....
Really? The 941 works fine for me with the stock stall TC and 3.50 gears. I'd wait 'till you get up above 290 degrees advertised duration before worrying about the torque converter. But higher gears (numerically) are always good!
Oh and Discman, wait until midnight, or maybe 1:00 AM, THEN put the streak o' rubber in front of their driveways. Also, before getting set on changing the cam, drive it for about a month. You might just decide you like it. There is something to be said for tire roasting low end torque. I think you're not pinging because you're running aluminum heads, and because it's a new motor. Mine didn't start pinging until it had a couple hundred miles on it, had to wait for the carbon to build up.
Edit: Oh and Discman, I ran your build through the Desktop Dyno. It came up to 347hp @ 4500rpm, and 465ft-lbs @ 2500rpm. The torque curve is as flat as a pancake up until 3500rpm, where it starts dropping off. These are flywheel numbers obviously. It would be interesting to see what it did on a real dyno... (hint...)

Always do lots of researce and make up your own mind about things. After all this is just my thoughts...Bench racing doesn't cut it when the wallet comes out.
Thanks everyone, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the cam before or after I take a trip to the dyno... This things just a toy to me, I'm just going to buy a cam and put it in just for the fun of it. Oh, and about the pinging, I cant get the motor to ping for anything. I even advanced it to 20 degrees btdc (no vacuum) and it still took off with no pinging!!
