I have a squeak in my back breaks or in the spantion or shocks. When I go to back up I hear a squeak not sure if it is my breaks but when I put them on when backing up it squeaks, or could it be my shocks?

I also need to tell you that my Ford Ranger is a 1999 with 76,000 miles on it it still has the organal breaks on the back. Also it has the shocks that it came with also.
If there is any other questions you would like to know please let me know.
To come and think of it, if I am on a bumpy or uneven road you will hear it squeak also. I just cannot think where it is comming from and would like to get it fixed before winter comes.
check all the bushings and look for loose bolts and what have you. could be the shocks, try bouncing the truck while it is parked to see if it bounces more than one or two times and see if it squeaks.

You brought up a good question here, never knew when to replace a shock. How many times should it bounce?
many people say it should only bounce once or twice if it is still good. I tried this on my truck when the old shocks had about 150k miles on them and it only bounced once. The best thing to do would be taking one of the shocks off and seeing if you can compress it with your hands. you shouldnt be able to, but if you can then replace them.
