Mitsubishi A/c
I have a friend that has a mitsubishi (not sure which model) that is having problems with the a/c. The sysmproms are: It will blow cold fine for a while and then the air will warm up. After a while it will cool off again. It cycles like this over and over. THe local mitsu dealer says the freon charge is fine and that some electronics in the temp control unit need to be replaced to the tune of $1000. This sounds very steep to me and I am not sure I believe the diagnoses. Does any one here have any experience with this? Suggestions?

The heat up and cool down sounds to me like the evaporator under the dash is freezing up. There is probably a temperature sensing capillary tube that needs to be replaced. This temp sensor shuts off the compressor when the condesor gets cold to prevent it from icing up.
$1000 sounds really high to me. Try another mechanic. I went to 2 dodge dealers and they both replaced the same electonic module before the 3rd one replaced the capillary tube and fixed the problem.
