1989 f-350 crew cab duley, 70,000 , perty good shape
started acting up the other day, hot out. starts ok cold. runs about 5 min. and starts to run as if it is loading up. if your are very easy on the gas motor does not hessatate, try and crack it it stalls, then you must hold it to the floor to get it to start. loaded up. fuel pressure is 29lbs running holds pressure aftet you shut it off. turn on the key and pressure is 38 lbs. untill it starts.
motor ideling seems ok. untill you touch the gas. wants to quit. unplug TPS and just plug in a new one, not installed, touch the gas and motor revs up no hessatation. plug the TPS back in and no luck. i have swaped the TPS no luck.
new fuel pump in tank and on the frame rail, new filter,
the motor is loading up, after ya get it running and drive it gently it will run down the road towing an 18000 lb trailer. but dont shut if off hot wont start unl less you crank and crank hold the pedal to the floor. it runs ruff for a few moments and the smooths out.
got any ideas. thanks, mark
You might try a new fuel pressure regulator. I had a 351 that sounded alot like that.
Are you getting a gas smell in your oil? If so you could be filling the crank case with oil. Well thats what ours did. We got a knock from hell too.
