intake/ distributor probs

intake/ distributor probs

i have a 400m with an weiland intake and the cutaway on the intake isnt enough for the distributor to drop in i can get it in except about 1/2 inch all the gears are lined up. the dist. is binding on the intake is it commom or just the wrong intake?

which weiand intake, is it the 8010? are you positive that the dizzy is not sitting on top of the oil pump driveshaft? try tapping the starter or the solenoid on the inner fender and see if the dizzy doesn't drop right in. crank the engine around and line up the timing marks on the balancer to double check that the rotor is where you want it.

You should have plenty of room. Sounds like something isn't lined up right. I think grclark might be right about the distributor alignment.
