Our 2004 Super Crew is getting wet carpet on the floor of the front passenger side of the truck. Has anyone else had this problem? Not sure yet but I am thinking it might be the condensation from the A/C is not draining properly.
if it's water, may be A/C drain, but that usually drains under the truck. If it's not water, could be the heating core, but this is way too new of a truck to have this problem.
Also, have you looked under the truck at the bottom of the floor boards, just by some freak chance something happened down there? Or maybe water is getting inside the weather stripping at the passenger door and seaping under the carpet. Just a few ideas.
Believe it or not....it could be that third brake light leaking. I had a similar problem on a different truck, water in the passenger flooring, and it turned out to be my back glass leaking. So depending on the way you normally park your vehicle, any water getting into it will find the low spot.
I just had my 04 SCab in the shop for the same problem-- it was the AC condensation not draining properly and backing up into the cab (passenger side). If you turn the radio off you'll probably be able to hear water sloshing around in the wire channel below the door.
It's a warranty issue. Dealership installed the "new and improved" evaporator drain, and had to pull the carpeting to dry it out. Get it done before you have a smelly mold problem. There is almost an inch of felt padding under the carpet and it holds a lot of water! The underside of the carpet is rubberized to prevent snow and water from leaking down through the carpet. That rubber layer also prevents you from vacuuming the water out of the felt padding below. The carpet has to be removed and dried out.
Babcock: This happens periodically with our Rangers - there is a drain from the condensate pan under the condenser (inside under the dashboard). If that drain tube somehow becomes plugged, the water has to go somewhere. With the truck on a rack, it should be relatively easy to find the tube hanging down near the firewall on the passenger side. I just run a wire up through it to clear it out. Usually leaves sometimes a spider.
Since your rig is new it would be a good idea to have the dealership check it. That way if there is any further difficulty with this issue you will have documentation that it has been addressed.
