Im looking to throw some 285/75/16's on my 03 F250 in the next couple of months and while I know you guys are the tire experts on this site. I need an MT that will give me decent mileage, not too much road noise, and won't break the bank. Sounds like the perfect tire, doesn't it?? Read somewhere in this forum that Maxxis Buckshot MT was good application? Any other opinions? Thanks in advance for the help.

everyone seems to like Buckshots or BFG Mud Terrains for your application. Gound Hawg are also really hard and last a long time, but they are pretty $$
i know yall think i am bulling you, but i keep talking about bfg muds everytime there is a post about mud terrains, and i tell you about the 35's on my old 2002 f-250 diesel extended cab, i saw it this weekend, still has the same tires tha ti put on at 1k miles, now the truck has 96k on it, so the tire shave 95k miles on them! and they still are not bald, i think because he puts many of these miles on them on the interstate, that maybe that is why they are lasting so long but still, 95k miles on a set of bfg m/t k/m's is amazing, i cant beleive it either!! he rotates and checks the air every 5k just like i told him to when i sold it
you're right kubota, I think your bulling me, I have had 3 sets of BFG m/t tires on 3 different vehicles (88 ranger, 84 jeep, 95 F150) none of those vehicles are particularly heavy nor did any of them haul all that much, and not one set of them tires lasted over 35k, not even one tire. let alone on a diesel extended cab that ways double what any of those trucks weighed. Sorry just my experience with them they are great in the mud, not to noisy, and no more expensive than any other tire but they don't last.

no such thing! you'll have to give up one of those factors! i am running 35" buckshots on my 96 powerstroke and i love them. i have yet to get stuck with them.... they do pull hard. they are quiet (for a mud tire, but i like hum) they handle great are wearing beautifully (for a 7200lb truck that sees 100 miles a day!). i've got about 12K on them now and theres a good bit of tread left!
want me to snap some pics of the odometer now, then some of the tires damn im tryin to think how i can prove it i sold it with 17 k on it, i have pics??
oh well, i know so thats wht matters to metake it or leave it
oh oh oh i know, cutts saw it when it was new, he saw it after i had put the tire son it, next time im in town ill get him to look at it and the odo, and confirm for yall, if ya dont beleive that, then you can suck one
I ran the old series of BFG muds on my old f150 and got about 35k out of them.
I am on my second set of Buckshot Mudders, I got 35k out of the first set and now I have put around 25k on my second set still with about 45% tread left.
No fluke, these tires last as long as a BFG and cost about $240.00 dollars cheaper a set.
BFG muds on mine and no complaints so far. I've got about 10,000 miles on them. Had them siped last year.Sure run cooler on the highway packing the camper. I think I'll get 30-40k out of them. All in all they're holding up better than I thought they would with the diesel.
come on, back me up cutts, i know this is a freak thing though

BUT, I will say my buddy has had his bfg m/ts on his heavy **** sub thats lasted just over 60k, and thats with some towing. Granted, they are well worn now but I'd say they were good for 50k.
I'd look at the toyo m/ts though. They're siped which will add in the street manners you are looking for.
The Toyo's are hard to find right now, and a little expensive. I like what I hear about both the Interco TrXus MT and the Buckshots, is there anyone who has run both? How did they compare? Also, has anyone run Kumho Venture MT's? The write-ups on Tirerack.com are good for the Kumho's, but most of those were lighter trucks. Thanks for the all help guys, I knew I could depend on the experts for some good advice.
