Getting ready to install the wiring harness for my Lance slide-in camper on my new SD.
I'm assuming I can just cut into the wiring harness in the frame rails to get the directionals, correct? However, the power and ground need to be 8 ga. with a 30 amp circuit breaker on the power feed.
Is there any built-in power block or buss to run the power from under the hood? If not, how is this most easily accomplished? Is the ground best run from the frame, battery, or some other source?
You don't need to cut into the harness for the turn/stop lamps. You can get a pigtail that plugs into the trailer wiring feed located on the driver's side near the spare tire. This pigtail has the connector that plugs into the frame plug on one end and bare wires on the other and is part number 2C3Z-13A576-CA. (This was for my 2003 F2). As far as the powerblock, I don't know what year or specifics your truck is, but on my 2003 5.4L, there is a 60 amp "customer access" power block on the driver's side fender liner just behind the power steering reservoir. It has a snap-open cover on it. I don't know where it might be on a diesel because the air-cleaner occupies that area.
