I posted this before and no one answered. I'm hoping that no one saw my other post. I have a factory rear swaybar off a 2WD supercab that I have spent about 60 bucks on (had to buy new ford parts) and now have no idea how it goes on. If you have one or know what they attach to please, please look at the pics in my forum. Even the links I got from ford dont match the originals.
I am about to hang the whole set up on my garage wall and call it art.
i haven't seen this style on your body style only on the 80 and up models. the sway bar bolts to the frame under the radiator and the end links mount to factory ears that come off of the i-beams.
Ok the brackets should bolt to the frame. But if you dont have mounts on the rear for the links I think your sol unless you can bolt them on through the shock bolts or make mounts to weld on rear. The mounts may or may not have actually bolted to the rear with u-bolts. I wouldnt use the longer links if your using factory mounts it wont help much.
429fordf250, you just described my front swaybar to a T. It bolted up no problem. gray79f250, I know what you're saying. If you look at the pic of the actual swaybar, you will see those rubber things. A bracket goes around those (I put them on the rubber in the pic) and I thought that they would bolt to the frame and the links to the axle. You're right, I dont see a place on the axle to bolt the links up. Furthermore, the rubber peices aren't spaced wide enuogh apart. ?.
I don't know what the heck is going on. my haynes manual do not have pics of the rear swaybar. I hope I'm not screwed.
I grabbed a sway bar from a 78/79 Bronco. It has the style of brackets that bolt to the 9" rear axle that you are looking for. Even axle brackets from the 80 up pickup should work as long as it's a 9" axle, the 8.8" axle sway bar brackets are quite a bit different.
OK, I found out what is going on. The brackets that go on the rubber pieces attach to the axle and the links go from the bar to the frame. Problem is, the bracket on the rubber attaches to another bracket that goes around the axle with a U bolt. U bold and second bracket are discontinued. Gonna try to do what loudford said and find an 80's truck witha 9 inch and see if I can get what I need.I have a feeling this discontinued crap is only going to get worse...
It looks as if you did not get the entire assembly from the seller.
I looked under my truck and you need two giant "muffler clamps" to fasten it to the axle tube. Maybe this will give you an idea on where to find some parts, just measure your tubes -hehe
If you do buy muffler clamps get good brand name units for strength.
Thanks for using FTE!

As we say in the Army, Roger that.
The U-bolts I should be able to get. I would think that a Muffler shop would have stainless steel U bolts. It's the other bracket I'm worried about.
