on friday i loaded up the family hooked up my utility trailer and headed up north for the weekend. about 20 miles from home the transmission started shifting up/down, stumbling and acting like it couldn't find the right gear and the tow/ haul light started flashing. i limped it off the e-way and it stop and go traffic it acted like it was shifting into neutral the slamming back into gear when i started to move. luckily i made it to my dealer who set us up with an expy to use on our trip ( they were great). now they are having a hard time trying to duplicte the problem and there are no codes stored... anyone have a problem like this?
Don't know if this will help but, I can find right now.
Good luck.
2005 Stall When Engaging Drive or Reverse, or at Stops, TorqShift Only:
Trucks built between 10-1 and 11-30-04 may exhibit a stall under the above conditions, along with various shift solenoid codes. This may be due to a sticking torque converter control solenoid. The transmission pan should be cleaned out, the TCC solenoid (3C3Z-7J136-BA) and external fluid filter replaced, and the cooler flushed and flow checked. TSB 05-12-1. NOTE: These conditions may occur on vehicles outside of the build dates above. However, the same repair applies, although the solenoid part number may be different.
i spoke with the dealer and they have driven it 60 miles and were able to duplicate the problem for a minute but still no codes. the diesel hot line told them to check for signal interference from the cooling fan. i know that i didn't hear the fan running on high when it was acting up. does the fan run at more than one speed? the a/c was on.
The same thing happened to me about a month before the tranny went out. When it did go out it would not shift out of 4th gear even after stoping the truck and turning it off and back on. The first time it did this I pulled over shut it off and back back on and it was fine. The second time they found a lot of metal shavings. So now I have a new one and it started doing the same thing yesterday.
well i got it back today. they could not find anything wrong. they drove it over 100 miles inspected all of the harness and connectors and just didn't know what else to do. i know it will be back, and from your experiences it will probably need a trans. luckily my dealer has been great to deal with.
yup thats how mine went out and with only 28k miles and to many mods to have it fixed under warranty, I ordered the suncoast converter and kit. I get my truck back tomorrow from the tranny shop. So far they had to order all the solenoids a new pump some other crap i think its going to come out to over 3k (what I paid for the converter and rebuild kit not included) but im not sure and im afraid to ask. The guy told me I burnt up 3rd and 4th gears torque converter was no good my reverse was no good and that some piece for the reverse was missing to begin with... "YES" a piece to the tranny was missing from the factory sheeesh.
