53merc, the nuetral safety switch on the AOD does not involve the column. You confused me with the comment on the Wire Works panel. All you need to do is interupt the wire from the ign. switch to the starter relay. The switch on the AOD senses park or nuetral. Joe
Fordie:
Is that true of an '86 AOD or jsut for the newer AODE?

Yes it applies to your 86 trans. The location is exactly where 53merc said it is. It may even still be in your trans, and you can use "female bullet" connectors for attaching your wiring. You won't have to worry about finding a factory plug for it. Sounds like you harness may be set up for running it thru the panel. Do you have the instructions still? If not call Ron Francis and I bet they will tell you how to do it. It truly is the easiest way to have a nuetral safety switch in your truck. Joe
53merc, if you have the colored wire kit, it is the purple wire in the ignition harness. Without NS switch you ran it to start on the solenoid. Now just interupt this wire with two to your NS switch on the tranny. A continuity tester will identify which terminals are activated in park and nuetral. Good luck, Joe.
