I have an idea. Please be a whole lot more specific. I have seen people get flamed a bit for being super vague by folks who didnt even bother checking the persons public profile. Well I checked and with a garage list like this :1965 F100 240 I6 3speed overdrive
1965 F250 352/auto
1947 1T flathead 8/4Speed
1979 E350 460/C6
2005 Focus -its a bit hard to even begin to answer your question. The only idea besides mine anybody is going to have is that somebodys heater box came apart. Maybe somebody took it apart, maybe it fell apart or exploded into a pile of pieces in the floor. Who knows?

Sure is a pretty neat line up of vehicles in that garage. I have a 65 overdrive F100 l6 as well. Those overdrive trannys were great. I love mine.

Tell us a little more about your problem. Hopefully we can help.....

put it back together

lololol if the plastic part is broken you will have to buy another box. should be easy enought to find and even easier to put in, three nuts, to defroster tubes, 2 heater hoses to the core

Add a couple cables and some electrical connections. I plan on removing mine soon and I bet there are others as well which are out and lying around.

When did we establish what we are even talking about? Davidoldfordfan has even broke it down to specific nuts and bolts and plastic pieces. The last two posters must just be familiar with which one of Frty7ford's many vehicles has a heater problem. I know my 65 F100 had optional Standard and Deluxe heater. Thats two different heaters for one or two years, maybe more. Sorry I'm just trying to get a clear picture on what we are talking about. Not that I am some kind of heater expert and would really have any great input, but you never know. I work in parts and try to help here sometimes by info that I have at work. Guess work is not an option. One of the hardest part of my daily grind is being bombarded by questions about repairing vehicles or getting parts for vehicles in which the owner or "mechanic" has no idea of what it is, other than maybe the make. Many don't even know what part they want. Can you believe it? I guess thats part of why I have commented twice on this. Next time your in a parts store and hear some nice fellow cusssing across the counter about getting the wrong stuff remember this.

Like many things parts men sure aint what they used to be. Thanks to computers and corporate greed leading to lack of training, and hireing of experienced employees. This mixed with the general "dumbing down" of America makes for a three ring circus instead of a parts house. Then you add the DIFM (do it for me) crowd as opposed to the old DIY(do it yourself). These are the folks who used to would have taken their car to a service station for minor repair when they were still around. To those folks I ask, can you say Wal-Mart Service Center? They have people who get paid to repair your car, along with facilities and time. Parts people get paid to try to figure out what the Hell your talking about.....Is there such a thing as a four ring circus? I need to get off this. I'm ruining my day off. Sorry for rambling. I have noticed I am one of the more long winded folks here. If you all knew how slow I type you may appreciate the love and dedication put into a post this long.

Hey Gregtruck I know exactly how you feel since I also work in parts (both aftermarket and dealerships). Whats worse is the ones who come to the dealership and want the parts people to diagnose and fix their car over the counter or phone like we are autozone or something instead of going to service and let them fix it. I feel you and hope you relax a bit before going back to work. Its only 9:41 here right now been here for 4 1/2 hours and still have another 9 1/2 hours to go. So please dont let it get to you to much and enjoy your time away from the misery.

Thanks for the sympathy my friend, and the kind words. I must correct you on one thing and take the oportunity to let the general public know this. Places like Advance Auto, Autozone, O'reileys, ect are not service centers and those very few people you find trying to answer the home shopper/fixover the phone hotlines are NOT in most cases who you want working on your car. If they were mechanics they would probably be in a repair facility. Retail stores are not repair facilities. With the exception of some I have seen in the city that are set up with garage bays down one side. Which is a wondreful idea. What Advance and Autozone are really doing is banking on the average drivers ignorance and pushing their sales people to offer problem related parts and suggest related tools, lubricants, ect.

There is no comuter they can plug into your car and tell you what is wrong with it. They advertise "is your check engine light on?" and people are coming in droves. Gee, they will probably buy something if we can get them through the door!! What they can do is pull a four digit code from your computer that references technical data that is meant to assist a trained technician in troubleshooting. Its not for "Socker Mom" freaking because the light is on. At the parts store what is happening is some guy will do the best he can to get her/you to buy a part and everything you need to install it. The part may only be related to the actual problem. Then you are stuck with the part because really unless they sold you the WRONG part, as in wrong year, make, ect..there is no excuse to try to return something once you have installed it and made it unsuitable for resale, plus that who would want to do a job twice and reinstall their old part.

Last, just because a company sells batteries that does not mean that it is a given that they go outside and install the darn thing. Unless of course the company advertises that they do free auto repair. I don't want to give the exact name of my company but I will say that we do a lot of neat and helpfull and FREE testing of certain electrical parts (off the car) We offer FREE battery charging and testing. Nowhere on our website or any other advertisment media does it say we install anything on a car. Possible exception of wiper blade campaigns. That dont mean in the pouring rain, 24/7, 365 either. Pheeww!! Still venting.....

Good Day And God Bless!

You are having to work 14 hrs a day? You must own the place.
