Well i went camping this weekend and i got back last night. I did not unload most of the stuff because i wasnt concerned about raining or anything (plus it was 113 degrees out!). Well i left the new chainsaw in the back of my jon boat that is in my pickup bed. Well it rained. The chainsaw was sitting in water. It is a new mcculloch chainsaw. What do i need to do to it? I figure drain fuel and oil but what else? I am concerned cuz it sat in the water for a few hours and it is also a new chainsaw. I havent tried to run it cuz i am too scared to mess it up worse than it already is (if that is at all possible). any help would be appreciated.
I drained the oil and gas and have yet to take the spark plug out. I was curious what one i would need. I cannot find my model of chainsaw in the online spark plug guides. The chainsaw is model # ms1435nav and in the manual the park number for the spark plug is mcculloch 9295-310502. Champion and ngk dont list the model number i need. They have names and the engine size and i believe mine is a 2.1 engine. It says there is an eager beaver 2.1 in the spark plug finder but my chainsaw does not mention eager beaver. Maybe that is the correct plug?
Make sure that no water gets sucked in the intake. Drain the carb if you didn't already, and make sure there's no standing water in the air filter, intake, etc. Crank it over a few times with the spark plug out to make sure. If you just let the plug and wire dry out, they may be fine. I would guess there's no harm done, as long as you don't "hydro-lock" it with water.
