anyone else here have this problem. Have a 04 screw with manual rear window. Has probably been opened once in the year we have had the truck. When it rains and ur driving water sneaks in the cracks somehow with the window closed. Is there a QUICK FIX OR SHOULD I JUST LET THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT?
I have a supercab 2004 xlt with a power rear window. i have never had a problem with a leak of any sort. I dont know if there is a difference in the power window seal and the manual window seal. The only problem i have with my Power rear window is it makes a noise like something is scraping when it is opening and closing. But no leak..sorry
I am taking my truck in on Wed. for just this problem. My headliner gets wet as well as the back seats and floorboards. Dealer said that will remove and clean/dry seats and carpet and replace the padding under the carpet to prevent mildew and mold. We'll see, so far they have been OK. I just had them reflash my PCM with no problems. Truck built 9/03
that seems like an awful lot of water getting in. wonder if they would replace the entire rear window with a fixed unit, never have this problem again, particularly if you don't use the slider anyway.
I just recently bought a used 2004 Fx4. Didnt have but 20K on it, and in insanely good condition, it was the GM"s truck...
I hadn't ever noticed a problem with the rear window.. On my Fx4, I dont have the slider window, but I just took it to get detailed, and washed the other day and the porter pointed to me he saw the water running into the truck down the back. I have the SuperCab, and my rear seat, about the middle to the passenger side was soaked down to the seat, all down the back.. I have a leak somewhere up in the window, my headliner wasn't wet at all..
Think this is about the same problem? I hadn't noticed it before when it's rained really hard...
I'm taking it back to the dealership, something like this is and should still be covered under the warranty I believe?
The headliner is a fiberglass shell. Water sits in it until you move the truck then it runs down the window. If you remove the third brake light there is 2 or 3 pretty big holes under there and you are looking at the other side of the headliner.
I was parked in a storm last week, and with the rain blowing into the back window (direction, not actually into the window) the back of my seat got soaked. It was the first time I actually know it got wet, but the seat was stained so I know it's done it before. Great design since the last thing you need on the this crappy fabric is water!
The tranny went out of that truck last week (2nd truck out of eight bought with broken tranny) so I moved into the our spare STX, and this one has not leaked yet that I can see, I'm going to pull off the light if it does and goo it up!
The brake light was the culprit in my case also. It has a seal around it and I was able to just tighten the screws. This was around Oct. or Nov. and I'm still dry to this piont.
I apparently have this problem as well. I have had my 04 SCAB XLT since January (bought it new) and just noticed this on Friday; there was a really hard rainstorm and I noticed that the rear seatback was soaked in the middle. The headliner was dry as a bone.
If I take this in, do I call the service department first to schedule an appointment? This will be the first time that I'll have my truck back to the dealer since I bought it.
anybody taken their truck in for this problem? if so what did they do and how long did it take. the dealership told my wife that they would have to keep the truck for 3 days with no loaner is that right?
I discovered the leak while washing my truck. It was the cargo light on the top of the cab. I took it into the dealer and they couldn't take my word for it, they had to verify it was leaking from the light. Anyway, they ordered the light assembly and changed it on my second visit. It only takes about 15 minutes to change.
why not try removing it yourself and checking the gasket around the light, then just snugging her down nice and tight. I have a small wire for my XM antenna running through the lower middle part of that light but still never noticed a leak. I'm knocking on wood as we speak. I just made sure the antenna cable went straight thru to minimize gasket displacement and that it was snugged down really good, just short of breaking the plastic housing.
