I was thinking about changing ALL of my fluids to AMSOIL so I decided to call Ford Customer Service. What a mistake. I was told that they had no problem if I used it in my engine, but since they have no data for anywhere else, ie front and rear axel, transfer case, and transmission, they would not recommand it. That it could void my warranty. They also told me that they would put a note on my VIN number so if any problems come up with any of these components that the first thing they will check, is what oil I am using. Has anyone had this problem or been using AMSOIL.
I ran Amsoil in my '99 Ranger. I got great fuel milage with it and my truck started easier on cold winter mornings.
However, when I drained the oil out after the year was up (and yes, after 6 months I replaced the filter and added 1 quart) I only got 4 quarts out of my engine.
Also, after that I noticed my truck has a "ticking" sound at idle that it didnt have before I used Amsoil.
My brother uses Amsoil in his '99 F-250 SD (V10, 4.30 gears) and he is able to pull 16 mpg on the highway.
Ive also heard great things about Amsoil's 2-cycle oils in snowmobile use (better milage, less smoke, cleaner exhaust valves) but after my experience with their oil in my Ranger, Im leary of them.

The inflated price for Amsoil products is due to Amsoil being a MLM company.
Why pay an inflated price for a product that you run the risk of voiding your vehicle manufacturer's warranty???? Save your money, and your vehicle's warranty!! There are plenty of great oil products on the market from NON-MLM companies, that are cheaper than Amsoil, and ARE API certified!!!!
