I can't stop laughing every time I look at that big honkin air filter sitting on my dining room table, it's BIG, I love it...I may buy another just to let it sit there.
BTW, I'm a single old fart so I can get away with it.... It's great....
I am headed to town to get a 4in. PVC piece for connecting, I've measured it and 4 in. will work fine.
Now my question...How do I remove the temp sensor from the stock air box ??
Is it a screw together thing, or what ?? I'll just tie it back out of the way once out but how do I get it out ??
LMAO.......I love that filter it's BIG.......
Thanks.....
I do appreciate the info on the temp sensor !
I was having trouble with finding anything that is exactly 4 in to fit the new BIG filter to the intake... WALA.....I was looking around went to the lumber yard for PVC connections etc and nothing exactly 4 in....EXCEPT....a 11.5 oz coffee can ( i think they use to be 1 lb )...exactly 4 in fits inside the honkin BIG filter and inside the intake, no need to do anything except hook em up.....No need to cut the intake or do anything except open both ends insert and go..........BTW it was a Hills Bros 11.5 oz (326 g) coffee can......That is a hoonkin BIG filter..
The filter minder is in a rubber grommet, you can either zip tie it up someplace or pop it (drill) in the top of the new filter. Clean all the shavings out.
If you have a temp probe, tie it up where it will get free-flow air.
You'll hear a difference in the motor, like hearing the turbo and also a hissing when you let off the pedal. This is all normal. You can do a quick (no pun) search on this to find LOTS of other threads with info. While you have some 4" PVC you may as well do the CCV mod too, do a search, it's a few pages back.
i have the quick wix too... when i stop for fuel and pop the hood to check the oil.. someone always walks by sees the thing and says: "what the *(@#$ is that..?" cracks me up everytime..!
sometimes... if it's the right person... i look at it all stupified and say..."geeze, i dunno... that wasn't there when i bought it... do you think i should take it back..?"
