hey guys
About how often does a carb need to be rebuilt? My 77 f-150 w/400 has a hard time taking off from a stop when its cold an I thought this might be the cause. I have already replaced the choke.
Thanks
David
The carb that was on my 78 400 went 317,000 Km without a rebuid, and it worked great.
I think the key is *constant use*.
If left sitting ,things will dry out and need replacing.

Yes, sitting idle and not running is bad for a carb. If you are running the stock 2bbl Motorcraft carb on your 400, I would consider not bothering to rebuild it. It is a bit more expensive, but there are a lot of benefits to getting a new carb, especially if your old one has a lot of miles on it and you are not an experienced carb mechanic.

Thanks guys,
My carb is the stock motorcraft but I don't know how old it is. I bought the truck off an elderly man last summer. I think they said that they werent driving it much but that was a while back. I drive it most every day. Thanks again.
