Eclipse AVN5495
I think if you were to contact ANY of the stereo installers around town, they could tell you exactly what wire to tap into... Also, there was a website that had this information also, but I have since lost/forgotten which one. (sorry)
I can tell you from experience the GPS won't work very well with out VSS hooked up. In fact it's about useless.
The dash comes apart very easy. The whole trim ring around the gauge cluster and radio opening just snaps off, once the two screws in the ash tray opening are out. Then there are four (I think) metric screws holding the gauge cluster in.
When the guy that sold me the radio told me I had to remove the gauge cluster to get to VSS, I had the same reaction as you. He assured me it was easy, and it was.
By the way, the more I use this radio, the more I like it. After 2 months I still feel it was money well spent. I can't see me ever being without a juke box ever again.
Good luck.

One more thing before I forget. If you do decide to go in through the gauge cluster, unhook the shift indicator first. If you've never done it, it's a small string under the steering column (under the dash) that just hooks over a little clip. Hard to explain, easy to do.
Thanks again, guys. I posted to a few motorcycle sites where I've helped folks out with questions and got this info-hope it will help others:
VSS Wire: LOCATION 11 OR 12- POSITION 58 OR 68 OF 104 PIN CONNECTOR
VSS Wire Color: GRAY/BLACK
VSS Pulse: 8000
VSS Tach Wire: LOCATION 11 OR 12- POSITION 48 OR 78 OF 104 PIN CONNECTOR
Found the 'puter behind the passenger side kick plate extending through the firewall, which sent me looking under the hood for the connector. Had to pull the battery to get at the 104 pin connector and found the wire at pin 58.
Tried it out and it works fine. With the parking brake lead grounded it still works so no gyro and it isn't sampling the VSS signal for motion (to disable keyboard function) so I'll tie it in via toggle switch to subvert it for passenger use. It really doesn't work well without the VSS hooked up. Without it, the GPS tracks well and the map scrolls fine as you travel but the audio voice guidance will not work as you drive, only when you get there does it announce you have reached your destination.
