Expedition questions...

In my quest to buy a new Expedition, I have some questions about contradictory info in the Ford brochure about a few features and I am hoping some existing owners can set things straight for me...

1) Brochure says that the rear-seat DVD requires the Premium audio... but the Limited only comes with the Audiophile audio. I assume the brochure really means "requires Premium or Audiophile audio" correct?

2) Does the Audiophile audio system have the "Sat" button and support satellite radio? I am going to use an XM kit, but it states that to use it the Ford Audiophile system must have a Sat button. http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=xmdirect

3) If I do not get the DVD system, is the wiring harness still there to add an aftermarket unit that does not come down so low into the rear view mirror sight and with a larger screen? Or is the wiring harness only there if you get the factory DVD system? Does the DVD unit sit higher and less obtrusive to rear view if there is no moon roof installed?

4) How are the heated and cooled seats controlled? Do the operate automatically depending on what temp you set, or are there separate controls? Are the controls on the dash or the seats? The brochure says 3 levels of heating and cooling comfort... does this mean 3 heating and 3 cooling besides off? Or Heat, Cold, off?

5) Is the garage door opener on the visor or the overhead console?

6) The brochure says the power fold 3rd row, AdvancTrac and floor console are only available with 1st row capt chairs... but the Limited only has low-back bucket seats... I know all these items come on Limited, and that low-back bucket is a type of capt chair, but what is different between the low-back bucket seats and the capt chairs?

I appeciate any input all you Epedition owners might be able to provide.

Jeff

Anyone have a Limited that can shed some light on these things for me? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jeff

I have an 05 Limited and maybe I can help answer some questions.

1. The DVD does require the premium radio the Audiophile is an upgrade of the premuim radio and does work w/ the DVD.

2. Yes the Audiophile system does have a SAT button but a satallite radio must be installed. my understanding is that Ford is partnered w/ Sirius, XM can be installed. I have XM in my 04 Acura TL and am soso on the content. I hear Sirius has more mainstream content.

3. I have no idea?

4. controls are on the dash incorperated into the A/C controls. Each seat has a heat and cool button. Each button can be pressed 3 times to control the amount of temp to each seat kinda of a Hi-Med-Low setting.

5. small buttons on Visor.

6. The High back buckets are on the Eddie Bauer and do not have an adjutable head rest the limited are a Low back with adjustable headrests. I have had both seats and find the limited a little more cofortable.

Hope this helps!

Small plug for Sirius... I have the car kit in my '99 and absolutely love it. No commercials is fantastic. Also being able to listen while at work through streaming it from the internet is really cool.

swtato,

Thanks for the input... I was looking at the '06 brochure and I see two up down buttons on the Lilmited dash climate control panel, but I would have thought they were for the dual zone temp settings... it is not obvious where the controls are for the seats...

The seat controls are the red (heat) and blue (cool) buttons with a picture of a seat on it. There are 3 small lights above each button that indicates high (3 lights), medium (2 lights), and low (1 light) settings. The up and down buttons on either side are for the dual zone temp settings.

BTW, don't make the same mistake I made and think that the upgraded NAV radio has a a SAT button. It does not. Why Ford didn't put a SAT button on the "upgraded" radio is beyond me.
