After replacing the throttle body and some thermactor pieces my bronco seemed to run great until the test trip. Halfway through the test run (and about 15 miles from home) the truck started to run very poorly. It had no power and tended to nearly stall evertime I touched the throttle. It seems as though it is out of gas but I know that there is at least 40 litres in the tank. So I pulled off the fuel filter assuming that it must be plugged. The filter looked clean enough but i replaced it anyhow. Now the filter bowl doesn't seem to be filling up. The truck still won't start and when I pull off the bowl for a look it is completely empty. It seems to me that the pump in the tank is not working. How can I test this to see if it is in fact the fuel pump? I really want to be certain that the pump is the problem before i go draining the tank and dropping it. I had considered running a new hose to the fuel bowl to fill it manually, if the truck runs like this, then it must be the pump. right? or wrong? any help or ideas would be appreciated.
well first of what bowl are you talking about because an efi wouldn have one. carbs have bowls. you need to check fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge. when you turn on the key do you hear the fuel pump turn on?
did you try and pull any computer codes? you can go to Fordfuelinjection.com for durections on how to do that. besides what KB said, do as FFI.com says to wire up the fuel pump for continuous run so you can personally listen to each pump (intank and framerail) to make shure both are running, if all those are good, you can also flow test the low press pump in the tank by mesuring how much gas it pumps per 30secs or so, your hynes manual has specifications for that. but other than that have you checked things like the Ignition and intake? you could have not put the TPS on right or somthing along that line.

I was refering to the fuel filter bowl that is bolted to the side frame rail just a little behind the drivers seat. It is empty and dry.
