Starting voltage
So, I'm on the beach with my '05 gasser listening to my XM boom box for six hours. It's plugged into a power point I installed in the bed area that's wired and fused directly to the battery. I'm also watching the battery voltage slowly drop on the gauge. What's the minimum voltage I need to start the engine? I know that remaining amps are a more important factor but I don't have an amp gauge and I think that would only serve to check the alternator output. Any guesses out there before my engine won't start and high tide comes in and makes an anchor out of my truck?

It would be hard to guess, as there are too many factors, such as how hard is it going to be to start the engine? And this will be determined on how cool it is outside, how long has it been sitting, etc.
Your best bet is to buy an auxilary battery with an isolator, and hook the stereo to that, so you will be guarenteed a fresh starting battery.
