Firefox slowdown with flashing ads?

Firefox slowdown with flashing ads?
Every time I browse to a page that has ads that flash rapidly, navigation in Firefox bogs waaay down (mouse movements jerky, text input lagging).
Anyone else have this problem? If I view the page in IE it runs like a champ but I prefer Firefox for the tab feature.
Any input?

I have that problem with a site called mercuranger, http://www.mercuranger.com/
about Ranger V8 swaps. Really annoying. I think it's the Applet that causes it. It's not just Firefox, I'm using Opera right now and it's still doing it. Just having the page open on another tab causes problems with this one. -TD
