[b]Well it is I again..This time with a new minor problem and I don't know what you call it but I am sure someone here could tell me.
It goes connected from the manifold to the airfilter.. It is that tube..It has busted and needs replacing. I was toldf this was a part not sold at atomotive shops but strickly the dealership..Is this true? and if so could someone give me a price range I am looking at.? I know I can do it myself it is on top.. as a matter of fact please see what I am talking about. it will be a quick vid of the part.. it is connected to the airfilter and to the manifold.
any Cowboy fans please visit my website-www.roberttrevino.com and click on messageboard and if you choose to register please name yourself adfter your truck.. anyway.. thanks..
Don't know if it has a technical name, but if you called it the "air inlet tube (or hose)" that should sum it up. Call up your local junkyard for something like that. It would be alot cheaper than going to Ford for it.
It allows the air to flow 1 way from the air box to the throttle body. As far as an auto parts store stocking it......???? Don't know. I wouldn't think so, but you never know. And I would only be guessing at the price.
I wish I knew the exact name so I can look it up on the internet to make sure a autozone or nappa would sell it and even go to my nearest ford dealership to comapir prices..
IF that is "just a hose", you can ask for different size hoses from the parts store. If there is some valve in it that you must have, you should be able to graft that into a new hose.
Like with my DPFE hoses......5/16" tranny oil cooler hose worked just fine for me after I could get nothing in terms of "emissions hoses" from the guys at OReilly.
It has a computer chip or connectors. It does not just get put on and off we go, The air filter has a sensor so this thing has to get hooked up with it.
Thanks anyway, looks like I will have to go to the dealership for this one.
First, I have to ask.. how in the heck would that break? Were you cranking on it or drop something on it?? It's not a part that typically just fails... Interesting.
Anyway... Chances are yes, you will have to get a genuine Ford replacement, unless you want to fork over some bucks for one of them "fancy" intake kits. (But I'd save your money... performance gains are minimal.)

Now wait......???? Did you break the long rubber tube or the part that houses the MAF? See post #7 in this thread: FTE Tech
I do agree with '04 4.0 XLT the air intake tube is not a common replacement part since it doesn't fail unless it dry rots or you mess it up.
I think it is a original and it was old and just snapped. I got the part from Ford and got is for $45.00.. not bad, because I work for a company and they do business with them I got a mojor break on pricing. I went to the 1st Ford Dealership and they told me $89.00 of course I ordered it before I realized the company I worked for called another Ford dealership had it on hold for me for $45.00.. I am not that good in math but returned the other right away and saved half..
I hooked it up myself and she is running good.. thanks yall.
most call it an accordian hose but that would be a (according to the dodge dealer i work for) one of 3 names.
1.accordian hose
2.air intake hose
3.and filterd air intake hose.
