Need help IDing this bolt...

I took my truck apart 3 years ago to start my 427 Tunnelport F250 project and now that I'm going back together I cant remember what this bolt is.

Please refresh my memory.

Thanks,

Need help IDing this bolt...

it looks like one of two things.either a seatbelt teather bolt or the bolt that connects the brake pedal to the push rod going to the master cylinder

Need help IDing this bolt...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Nov-02 AT 10:55 PM (EST)]Thank you very much. The seat belt retaining bolts are round with a torx 50 head. I think you nailed it with the brake pedal.

By the way, do you have headers on the SCJ? If so, what did you do to make them line up on the exhaust ports? I'm assuming those SCJ heads have the higher exhaust ports like the Tunnelports, etc...

Thanks again.

I think its the brake pedal bolt as well. Did you purchase a new nylon sleave for it seeing how you have the bolt out already?

No new sleeve yet. I'll have to deal with that when I get to the booster/master cylinder installation. I certainly hope I have better luck finding it than I've had with EVERY other part I've requested of my Ford dealer. So far everything has come from the aftermarket sector.

scouder
that scj actually has edelbrock performer rpm heads on it,seems how i toasted the left head 2500 miles after i built it when a valve broke off and fell into the cylinder. no i dont have headers on it. i have a pair of modified 360/390 truck exhaust manifolds. my exhaust starts at 2 and a quarter inch then goes up to 3 inch just behind the manifolds. 3 inch pipe all the way to the 2 chamber flowmasters and 3 inch out the back. i think the scj has the same heads as the rest of the cj's.the bottom end is just built stronger. somebody will correct me if iam wrong

How long is the shoulder part of that bolt?
According to the photo it doesn't look long enough to fit in the brake pedal slot which is takes close to 1/2- 5/8"

I'll go get one and post a photo of it.

Dennis,

The shoulder is 5/16 wide. I tried it this morning on the master cylinder actuating rod and it fits perfect. It's kinda surprising how thin the actuating rod actually is. These forum people know their stuff.

Thanks again everybody,

Don't know where it goes, but I do know that it's better to have an extra bolt than to be missing one, only to find it when you first start the engine again. Oops. :-X23

Seems to be if memory serves me the bolt for the transfer case pivot on my truck looks just like that too, the shoulder might have been a little longer though.

You haven't really worked on your truck unless you have bolts left over...

Looks like the brake pivot bolt to me.

Thanks for using FTE!
