Thanks for all the info guys. The $200 is JUST to replace the transformer, anything else (like the furnace coil cleaning) is additional. BTW, the chemical clean of the furncae coils is about $210 - sound like I need to find another HVAC service company?
As for the transformer, if the part really is that cheap I think I'll find one now, then hang on to it until the transformer really does break. I DO know enough about AC electricity to shut off the circuit and replace a $25 part
