I just used a piece of self stick sand paper from my electric sander and stuck it on a flat board. Held washer flat with small 1/2" x 1/2" piece of wood and rubed it back and forth. Make sure you rotate the washer 1/4 turn after a few rubs to keep it even. Keep rubbing and rotating until you get to the thickness that you want. Only took about two min.
