Sorry, that dog don't hunt! I can appreciate a perfectly restored 100 pointer, but they will never bring six figures at auction like several rodded versions have. The best restored stocker tops out at ~20K and is a hard sell, an equally well done completed rod STARTS there.
You must mean my Stylish, Finely Designed & Engineered Red '58 M-100, it was my Uncle's Ranch Truck, before it was Fathers.
And as for your desrepctful "Daddy" statement, I see you are a trial to your parents & I hardly believe you've found it "Nice" at all.

I could be wrong, but I think greasing between the leaf springs would only invite an accumulation of sand/grit, making the effort less than desirable. Some sort of teflon pad or a dry lubricant between them may be a better soution.
And by the way, anyone thinking that the 'mass' rodding of these old trucks has no effect on the value of the remaining 'stock' trucks may not fully understand simple economics, the law of supply and demand. Anyone bought a can of R-12 lately?
I wasn't aware that a modified 300 I6 with a modified c4 auto trans came stock in a 58 M100 truck. Doesn't stock mean exactly that right down to the last nut and bolt?
Before you start yelling I happen to think the 300 six is a good engine and it is your truck but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones so the old saying go's
Guys, I think this a bit testy, there is room for everybody here, we all love trucks, some of us just love 'em differently. The really good thing is that all of our trucks don't look alike

Same thoughts here. They are Ford trucks, Ford powered. Works for me, stock or not they are all great
It doesn't look much different than stock, the stance can be seen in my gallery shots. The PO had done all the major work, I just removed the ram assisted OEM steering box and column in favor of a Toyota PS box, tilt column and Grant banjo wheel. I don't like the looks of a panel truck way down in the weeds, looks like a turtle to me. I'm very pleased with the stance on mine and since I'll be towing a large trailer it really can't be any lower without dragging.
That is what counts for all, what looks good to them. I like all of 'em. Stock as a stone or modified. What a great group of folks on this site, let's all respect the right for each to follow their own path of enjoyment. Joe
Wow. What a thread. I like B/B "time machine" label. I felt that the day I drove my 56 home after 20 plus years of selling my 54. I had a streight axle on the 54 and the ride can't compare to the IFS feel. You can't beat the looks of a 56 heading in your direction with the nose in the dirty. It's just cool.
But all I've to do is unbolt the 300 & C-4, then rebolt the 223 & Merc-O-Matic.
Big difference between that & Chopping, Channeling & Rodding a truck.
Plus mine has a Stock exterior w/ of the era FoMoCo accessiaries.

I hope I haven't offended any of you out there with stock trucks. I like them a lot, but it just wasn,t what I had in mind when I started mine. It was about remembering my youth.
Then after being accused of a bad chop of a perfectly good truck it "slightly" irritated me.
I think there is room for all types of trucks to be appreciated on this forum. So I'm sorry if I offended anyone. (other than the col).Wayne
