Backup light wiring

I swapped a ZF into my F-150, and reconnected the backup light to the electrical connector on the trans. I went from an M5OD to a ZF. Now, my backup lights stay on all the time, and don't really work. I unplugged the fuse to shut them off. Do you guys know why that would happen? I figured the wiring would be the same and it would be plug/play...is it not? The backup light worked on the trans previous to the swap.

the switch on new trans could be faulty causing it to stay on.

While I don't rule that out, I figure that might not be the case....no?

you did not change anything else so i would check that first. my vette had a bad switch that did not allow the lights to work. did not look bad, but that was the problem.

Do you know how the switch comes out?

It occured to me that my statement may be interpreted differently. The ZF came out of my F-250, and in the F-250 it was working ok. Then I took the ZF out of the F-250 and put it in the F-150 and now the lights don't work.
