In the tech section, there is discription for converting an 85 F150 to 4X4 using a 79 F150 4X4 front end. It sounds like a bolt in. ?, would the same hold true for a 79 F250 2 wheel drive? Thanks, Elliott

I must be missing something.

79 Ford F250 4X2 has twin I beam front axles with coil springs. 85 F150 4X2, has twin I beam front axles, with coil springs.

The tech article talks about putting a 1979 F150 coil spring live front axle into a 85 to make it a 4X4.

How is a F250 2 wheel drive front suspension different from a 85 F150 2 wheel drive front suspension? Other than spring capacity, I bean strength?

Thanks, Elliott

Ford radically changed the entire frame and body for 1980. Frame widths and lengths, mount points for the I-beams, a lot of things.
Sure, given enough money and enough time, anything can be done. But I woud stay away from this unless you have your own steel mill.
