I've been in the market for a new full size truck. I came across a 1979 F250 Ranger 2WD the other day. It's 2 tone, red and orange. It looks to be in decent shape body wise, with only some dents to the pass door and front fender, and being and AZ truck, no rust. It's all complete, all trim and such, except for a missing driver's door panel. I didn't get to see what it had for a motor, but I think it was an automatic. He has the price as $2800 on the sign. If it runs well does it sound worth it? I've never worked on one of these year Ford trucks. What's the parts availibility like? Thanks for any help you all can give.

Gary,
1.Inspect the steering column closely. Insure it shifts into all gears. Columns are notorious for falling apart.
2.Brakes should be in good service and perform with no problems.
3.Vehicle may burn oil on start up but, nor under acceleration.
4.Glass should be present and not fogged.
5. Trim being complete is an extra bonus!
6. This truck is almost bulletproof by design.
7. Check the kingpin suspension. Don't be surprise to see a bad steering gear and be ready to replace it.
Good Luck,
KingFisher
Thanks guys. I'll try to get a better look at it and see it in person and try taking it for a test drive. Thanks again.
