So, I was towing a car transport, and got stuck in some grassy mud. I put it in 4wd Lo with the dash selector, start to back up and hear this grinding noise.
So I put it back into 2wd, and can pull out of it. No more grinding, drives fine, etc.
So on the way home, for the hell of it, i tried putting it into 4wd Hi while moving, and the car kind of bumps, almost like hitting a speed bump. So I stop, and put it into 4wd Hi, and it works fine, no bumping or grinding.
I dont think you can back up with the 4wd lo engaged? Also if you are driving relatively fast you should only use the a4wd setting and not 4hi or 4lo. I think that the last 2 settings on the 98 model(4hi, 4lo) should only be used when you are either travelng off road or going through deep snow. These setting arent meant to be engaged on dry pavement at high speeds. Especially the 4lo. I think it even says so in the owners manual or the off roading guide. (i may be wrong because i dont have an owners manual)
