Sounds to me like a PCM issue. Did you happen to check the fuses? Possible fuel bowl heater short? Does it have a chip?

Throttle pedal I would think would not make it stall so much as just make it idle.
How about a failing IDM relay?

I just bought a Helminc service cd-rom for my truck, but it's at work. I'm a very early riser so I won't be there for 3 hours. I'll look it up then and post it.

Hmmm, this manual is very poorly laid out. Not at all orginized like the Bentley CD's that I am used to using. It's going to be a while if I find it if I do at all. For now I have to get to work. Sorry I couldn't be more help right now. I'll try later on when I have more time.

The IDM relay is relay #2 in the power distribution box. It is the second relay up from the bottom on the right side. The IDM fuse is #8 which is the fifth one down from the top on the left side. The PCM is relay #1 (very bottom right) and fuse #22 (center top).

The IDM (injection driver module) relay for a 2000 model is as shown in under hood box. Hope this may help.

Crap! I gave you the locations for your 97', not your buddies 2000. Lol, Big Red to the rescue. Sorry about confusing the situation...
