I am checking to see if a 300 and a 302 will work with
each other mounting up to the tranny bell housing.
It's either change motors or rebuild the 300(bad head).
I know about exhaust, suspension, and other changes. The
300 is in a 77 F100. Thanx!
Yes, the 302 will bolt up to what ever trans bolted up to the 300, BUT make darn sure that you use the flywheel from the 302 on it, and not the one from the 300.
You'll have to get a set of small block engine mount supports from a '67-'79 Fseries truck, but these are easy to find.
he's right. the 302 will be a better, smoother crusing motor, but you'll have to rev it alot more to get any power out of it... the 300 has it's power right at the bottom end..
Old,
The 300 is a better work motor and cheaper to maitain.
The 302 is a performer and has many option for performance which are expensive.
If you stay with the 300 you are going to save yourself a lot of cash!

Was thinking about doing a swap myself. I have an 85 f150 with a 300 and a 3 spd standard and a 79 f100 with a 302/c6. Wanted to put the 302 in the 85 with the standard transmission becuz I know it would take entirely too much to put the standard in the 79 even though the 79 looks better. Both engines are good but only one tranny is. I'd rather have the 302 with the standard tranny I think. What all would that take???
Thanx!
