How HOT is HOT?
I have been reading the below post and as I get closer to being on the road I am worried. 1966 352, new radiator, headers. The inner fenders & voltage regulator & brake line that comes down from master gets so hot you cannot hold your hand there! But the guage just mooves alitle to the right of "C". How do I test the guage and or sensor? It had a schrod on but I broke it taking it off to put the new radiator on becuase the old one leaked. I had just bought truck and didnt drive it much before the leak started. I dont make it a habit to check the inner fenders on newer truck but this just doesnt seem right to me???

The headers are creating the heat on your inner fender & etc. You could fab up a heat shield for the brake line. Something as simple as aluminum cooking foil will work to reflect the heat. You can check you gauge by placing the sending unit tip in a pan of boiling water. The gauge itself can be checked with an ohm tester. Make sure it has a good solid ground before repacing it. My gauge normally reads about a quarter inch past the first line.
